  1. Start Outlook / Outlook Express.
  2. From the menu, select Tools, then select Accounts.
  3. Click on the appropriate account from the Mail tab.
  4. Select Properties.
  5. Select the Servers tab.
  6. Put a check in the box titled "My server requires authentication".

  7. Click the "Apply" button, then the "OK" button, and close out the remaining windows.
