How-to: Change Advanced Settings in Outlook Express

  • Open Outlook Express
  • In the menu at the top go to Tools -} Accounts...
Tools - Accounts
  • From the now open window "Internet Accounts" select the "Mail" tab
  • From the "Mail" tab select your default e-mail account - "mail.yourdomain.com" for example and press "Properties" from the right-hand side.
Internet Accounts
  • In the "Properties" window ("General" tab), enter the relevant details: name, organisation (optional), e-mail address and reply-to address (optional).
General Properties
  • From the now open "Properties" window select the "Servers" tab
  • Make sure the following values are entered, press "OK" and close all  open windows by clicking the "OK" button or the "X":
  •  Mail server: "POP3 "
  •  POP3: "mail.yourdomain.com"
  •  SMTP : "mail.yourdomain.com"
  •  Account name: "[your-username]"
  •  Password: "[your-password]"
  •  Remember Password: "Yes"
  •  My server requires authentication: "Yes"
