Do you offer spam filtering and virus scanning for incoming mail?

Yes! Our mail server uses SpamAssassin to filter all incoming mail. Additionally, we have antivirus software running on our mail server which scans attachments.

SpamAssassin will assess all e-mails and assign a spam score. The spam score will be added to the mail headers. A mail delivery agent running on the server will then filter all e-mails according to the spam score and deliver the mail to the appropriate mailbox. All e-mails with a spam score of 5 or higher will be delivered straight to your IMAP Spam folder. All e-mails with a spam score of 20 or higher will be delivered to your IMAP Trash folder. To Subscribe to the Spam folder, you MUST use an IMAP enabled mail client OR use our webmail interface.

Attachments that contain viruses or potential viruses will be quarantined by the antivirus software. If this happens, you will receive a message with the attachment removed and a note containing an ID. Should you wish to receive the attachment, you can e-mail our support, quoting the ID. Our support will then make the attachment available to you.

In simpler terms, this means that all e-mails sent to you via our mail server are scanned for spam and viruses (and appropriately filtered) even before they reach your computer. This gives you extra security and a better e-mail experience!

We also take additional steps to combat spam, including the use of SPF records, and reporting spam to blacklists. If you would like more information about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
