Virus Warning: Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1
An increased level of e-mails are being detected as being infected
with the Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1 virus. The virus is more than often
attached as "somename.pif"...
The subject of the infected mail may vary. These are some
examples:
"Re: Re: Thanks!"
"Re: Word file"
"Re: Your website"
"Re: Your music"
Variants of this virus detected by Gen-1 include NetSky.D.
In any case, you should never open .pif files
attached to an e-mail!
PIF files, short for Program InFormation, are a type of file
that holds information about how Windows should run a non-Windows
application. For example, a PIF file can contain instructions for
executing a DOS application in the Windows environment. These
instructions can include the amount of memory to use, the path to the
executable file, and what type of window to use.
