AntiVirus software vendor
McAfee Inc. have stated it
is "greatly disappointed with the lack of action" on
Microsoft Corporation's part to provide information
needed to develop security software for the new
Windows Vista
operating system.
According to Microsoft, both
McAfee and
Symantec Corp. were given sufficient information to
make their products work with
Vista, and the software
interfaces for the
Windows Security Center were uploaded to a
website for software developers.
Symantec and
McAfee have accused
Microsoft of abusing its monopoly in deciding which
security products can run on
Windows Vista, arguing that
Microsoft is deliberately withholding information
needed to develop products that work on the new system.
Microsoft Windows Vista is a new operating system and will
be available to consumers early of next year.
