Microsoft has announced that it will offer its new Windows Vista operating system for sale on the internet.

The Vista package is the first major enhancement to the Windows operating system since the launch of Windows XP in 2001.

The operating system will be available for individual customers and businesses to download in what will be the first ever opportunity for Windows users to download a package.

Microsoft is also believed to soon offer its latest Office package through the internet.

The release date of Windows Vista is set for January 30th 2007.

Of course, Vista can also be purchased on disc through NetLink or other retailers after the release.
